Get involved as a Positive East Volunteer
Positive East wouldn't exist without people like you providing support as a volunteer. We rely on volunteers support and assistance in helping us deliver our services across east London.

So why not join us? It is a great way of not only gaining experience, but also developing new skills and making new friends.

We recognise the importance of volunteers as an essential part of our organisation and we try to ensure all undergo a high quality training programme. We offer a range of opportunities for all members of the community, especially minority ethnic members across London, regardless of sexuality or gender. The types of activities ranging from:

  • providing support to people in the community;providing limited practical help at home;administrative based work within the organisation;
  • and importantly, helping us with community fundraising and promotional events.

Help Us Build Better Futures
The challenge for people living with HIV in maintaining health, wellbeing and independence is a tough one.  Here at Positive East our diverse, dynamic and talented staff succeed every day in building better futures for HIV+ people.  We are now looking for two new talented, enthusiastic and committed individuals to join us achieve our mission.

Community Support Services Manager

£30,603 pa + 6% pension

You will be the manager leading our new team of existing staff providing services targeting African Communities, Gay Men and other new/emerging groups of people affected by HIV.

You will be a highly skilled manager with at least 2 years of current practical management experience with good people and operational skills.  You will have a track record of managing, developing and delivering high quality effective services that promote people’s health and wellbeing.  You will have a good working understanding of the needs of individuals and communities affected by HIV and also the social, economic, cultural and political issues that impact on their lives.


Client Services Worker (Generalist Advice Worker)

£27,753 pa + 6% pension contribution - Big Lottery Funded Post

You will be joining our busy advice team delivering a vital service ensuring that the needs of people living with HIV are effectively identified and met.  This post is part of new exciting Advice Plus project funded by the Big Lottery supporting our work in reaching out to people who need our help and support.

You will have at least one years experience of providing Welfare Rights and Generalist Advice, knowledge of legal entitlement to social security benefits (particularly those related to ill health and disability), and a basic knowledge of the entitlement to benefits and housing for asylum seekers/ persons from abroad.
