Health Outreach Team East London - HOTEL
We are currently developing relationships with social venues in
East London, so that we can provide information and outreach in a
variety of pubs, clubs, saunas and any other suitable venues to
make sure that resources are easily available to local residents.
Our most recent activity was in March, when Fresh, our stop smoking service successfully held an outreach session at Chariots Limehouse, as part of the lead in to the smoking ban in public places, which will start on 1st July. Thanks to Richard and his staff for their time and enthusiasm in helping us to promote the service.
We are also looking to expand their current outreach activities by undertaking sessions at Chariots Sauna in association with Victim Support.
If you would like to be part of the Outreach Team, you will be required to undertake part of a programme of scheduled visits with Victim Support, (up to two sessions a month lunchtime and weekend, each for 3 hours). The targeted group being hard to reach groups - namely city and BME MSM's (men who have sex with men, who do not necessarily identify as being gay or bisexual).
The volunteers would provide support and information to clients relating to services provided by the Gay Men's team within Positive East as well as general information on STI/HIV and GU clinics. Full training will be provided to the volunteers.
All Outreach volunteers will be required to comply with Positive East Outreach policies and guidelines.
